- Fred T. Berry Jr.
The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Fred T. Berry, Jr. for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-123 Aircraft Commander at Camau, Republic of Vietnam on 27 December 1966. Despite adverse weather, heavy ground fire, and marginal runway conditions, he delivered a potentially hazardous supply of vitally needed fuel to an airfield under enemy attack. His repeated return and delivery of cargo during the enemy attack and his superior flying skill resulted in the successful completion of the mission. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Berry reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
