- Glenn Ellison, Jr.
The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Staff Sergeant Glenn Ellison, Jr., for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130E Loadmaster for the 50th Tactical Airlift Squadron at a classified forward operating location in Southeast Asia on 21 December 1971. On that date, Sergeant Ellison flew an extremely hazardous airdrop mission into an area of intensive ground fire to provide supplies to allied forces surrounded by hostile forces. Although Sergeant Ellison repeatedly exposed himself to ground fire during the critical phases of the airdrop, he performed in a calm precise manner and was instrumental in executing a delivery with pinpoint accuracy. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Sergeant Ellison reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
