Kenneth J. Duckworth

The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Kenneth J. Duckworth for heroism while participating in aerial flight as a CH-3 Co-Pilot in Southeast Asia on 30 March 1968. On that date, Captain Duckworth was responsible for the rescue of five downed crewmembers. Although his own aircraft was highly overstressed and malfunctioning, Captain Duckworth’s knowledge and skill enabled his crew to make a successful rescue. The following day, Captain Duckworth volunteered to return to the same area to assist in the location and destruction of the downed aircraft. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain Duckworth reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
