Richard A. Blank

**The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Richard A. Blank for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial as an F-4 Navigator near Thuong Duc Special Forces Camp, Republic of Vietnam on 22 October 1970.  On that date, Lieutenant Blank flew through extremely adverse weather and terrain conditions to successfully strike a hostile force engaged by friendly ground units in a sustained combat operation.  His accurate ordnance delivery on the aggressors while evading heavy automatic weapons and small arms fire freed the friendly unit from imminent destruction and allowed them to rejoin their main force without encountering further resistance.  The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Blank reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Blank for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial as an F-4 Navigator in Southeast Asia on 5 March 1971.  On that date, Lieutenant Blank took part in an attack against a hostile fortified position.  Despite a low broken cloud ceiling, heavy automatic weapons and small arms fire, and the close proximity of friendly forces, Lieutenant Blank was instrumental in the accurate delivering of ordnance which resulted in the complete destruction of the hostile area and subsequent saving of several friendly lives.  The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Blank reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
