Robert W. Dushlek

Captain Robert W. Dushlek distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-130 Gunship Sensor Operator in Southeast Asia on 16 January 1970. On that date, while on a night armed reconnaissance mission over the supply trails leading to South Vietnamese cities, his actions led to the destruction of 15 hostile supply trucks and the creation of 12 large secondary fires and explosions while encountering a total of 546 rounds of accurate antiaircraft fire. After acquiring and directing fire on these targets until his gunship was out of ammunition, he remained in the hostile target area and directed further successful strikes by his fighter escorts. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Dushlek reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
