Larry E Fletcher

1) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Larry E. Fletcher for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-119G Pilot in Southeast Asia on 6 October 1970. On that date, while flying a night armed reconnaissance mission, Lieutenant Fletcher’s gunship prevented a large hostile force from overrunning a friendly village and broke a hostile attack on a friendly convoy. Disregarding heavy anti-aircraft fire at his aircraft, Lieutenant Fletcher maintained a steady aircraft firing platform for the Pilot for over two hours. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Fletcher reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

2) The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Larry E. Fletcher for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an AC-119G Aircraft Commander in Southeast Asia on 14 February 1971. On that date, Lieutenant Fletcher’s gunship was diverted from an armed reconnaissance mission to support a friendly offensive against a village held by a large hostile force. His judicious and extremely accurate concentration of gunship firepower, in spite of intense anti-aircraft fire, silenced the hostile mortar and machine gun positions, inflicted heavy casualties upon the hostile troops, provided cover fire for the advancing friendly troops, and enabled the friendly force to successfully take the hostile village. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Fletcher reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
